Martha Garcia is from Oxnard, California and is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Psychological and Brain Sciences with a double minor in Applied Psychology and Education Studies. During her time at UCSB, she became heavily involved in a number of organizations, including her serving as the HOC Chair of the Loc Curanderos Club and as a research assistant for the Koegel Autism Center. In addition to her work at Imagine as a McNair Scholar, Garcia was also the co-author of Autistic Dating Experiences and Needs: Towards Co-Creation of a Dating-Related Social Skills Program" for the 2023 international Society of Autism Research (INSAR) Conference. In the future, she plans on continuing her research efforts through the pursuit of a PhD in Clinical Psychology and eventually the startup of her own lab where she can investigate effective intervention methods for the Latinx community. When Garcia is not working to improve and diversify the mental health field, she enjoys reading, hiking, and visiting different museums.
