Moises Guerrero Gallegos is a second-year History of Art and Architecture student at UC Santa Barbara. Born in Los Angeles, he can trace his family's roots back to Western Mexico. Many of Moises’s academic interests lie in physical material history, such as artifacts, relics, and iconography, and the role they have played in contemporary perspectives of history. Additionally, interests lie in interpreting Old World objects through New World philosophies, and vice versa. Moises plans to continue working with physical objects in future scholarship on Catholic relics during the colonial period in Alta California and on object biography through the mission system, with the career goal of becoming an Archivist working with physical materials. Besides academia, Moises works as the Archives Coordinator for KCSB-FM, an assistant at the California Ethnic and Multicultural Archives, and a Student Archivist at the Material and Image Research Lab. He enjoys collecting Popmart figurines and rare books, and playing Roblox and Super Smash Bros with friends.
