Jonah is a fourth-year undergraduate at UC Santa Barbara, majoring in Sociology with a minor in Labor Studies. He was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, and raised in Mammoth Lakes, California. As a low-income, first-generation college student, he primarily focuses on supporting and better understanding the experiences of people like him. Jonah hopes his research can contribute to the existing body of work supporting marginalized and alienated students. After he graduates from UC Santa Barbara, he plans to pursue a PhD and continue conducting research with an emphasis on rural, low-income communities. Outside of school, Jonah works with former foster youth with the UCSB Guardian Scholar Program. Additionally, he enjoys cooking, reading, and making music.
