Gianna Cossitor is a fourth-year undergraduate at UC Santa Barbara, where she is finishing her bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Applied Psychology. Her academic work is driven by a deep interest in forensic psychology and clinical assessments, with a particular focus on the long-term developmental impacts of trauma and substance abuse within family systems. By exploring how complex stress histories manifest in both psychological well-being and physiological health, Gianna seeks to advocate for more integrated, trauma-informed intervention strategies that address the whole person. Following graduation, Gianna plans to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology to build a career as a researcher and practitioner specializing in forensic populations. Her perspective is uniquely shaped by her professional background as a household manager, which has provided her with a practical, hands-on understanding of child development and family dynamics. When she is not focused on her research or graduate school applications, Gianna is an active sourdough baker who manages a detailed fermentation schedule around her work and studies. She also finds creative outlets in home renovation and interior decorating, and enjoys spending time with her cats.
